here´s another nice page to check your movies Denver Public Library online
edit
mmhh direct linking to the list doesn`t seem to work .. silly cokies .. you have to navigate on your own..
just click left on eFlicks and choose Classic Film
if you have a library card there you can even download those movies :)

anyways... if your movie is listed on at least two of those 4 sites you can be sure it´s public domain

To all these fast responders: thanks greatly for the useful urls! I'll check out the sites and if my movie is PD, then I'll upload it soon.

Wikipedia's list of PD films is terrible. They list "Plan 9" as being PD when it isn't, But don't list The Patchwork Girl of Oz (1914 film) as being PD when it obviously is.

It's hard to argue with that. The Wikipedia page hasn't been updated in a long time. Several movies are mentioned in the discussion, and I made a comment a while back on Woods' movies, but don't see it there now.
